You will need to apply for a visa unless you meet one of the following visa exemption categories:
1. Temporary Visa Exemption (Until 31 December 2025)
Citizens of the following countries may enter China without a visa for up to 30 days for tourism, business, visiting family/friends, exchange, or transit:
Switzerland, Ireland, Hungary, Austria, Belgium, Luxembourg, France, Germany, Italy, The Netherlands, Spain, Malaysia, New Zealand, Australia, Poland, Portugal, Greece, Cyprus, Slovenia, Slovakia, Norway, Finland, Denmark, Iceland, Andorra, Monaco, Liechtenstein, South Korea, Brunei, Bulgaria, Romania, Croatia, Montenegro, North Macedonia, Malta, Estonia, Latvia, Japan.
2. Bilateral Visa Exemption Agreements
According to mutual agreements, visa-free stays of up to 30 days are granted to nationals from countries such as:
Singapore.
Other agreements include:
Up to 90 days within every 180 days: Thailand, Kazakhstan, Antigua and Barbuda, Georgia.

3. Visa Free Transit

Foreigners change flights in China within 24 hours on the way to another country or region holding an interline ticket of an aircraft, ship or train:
- are exempted from Chinese visa if they do not go through China border
- should apply an entry permit from China border inspection authority if they need to go through China border.
(2) The stay duration for foreign nationals eligible for visa-free transit has been extended from the previous 72 hours and 144 hours to 240 hours (10 days). Please click here for more details.

- Americas (6): Argentina, Brazil, Canada, Chile, Mexico, The United States.
- Oceania (2): Australia, New Zealand.
- Asia (6): Brunei, Japan, The Republic of Korea, Qatar, Singapore, The United Arab Emirates.
4. Residence Permits
If you already hold a valid Chinese residence permit issued by local authorities, you do not need a separate visa. New residents must register for the permit within 30 days of arrival.
5. Permanent Resident Permit Holders
Holders of a valid Chinese permanent resident permit do not require a visa.
6. APEC Business Travel Card Holders
Travelers with an APEC Business Travel Card, including the virtual version, are exempt from a Chinese visa.
